Mental health in young adults born extremely preterm or extremely low birthweight with contemporary neonatal intensive care

Mental Health

Our recent study highlights the mental health outcomes of young adults born extremely preterm in the years between 1991-1992. The objective was to compare attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, mood, and substance use disorder prevalence in young adults born extremely preterm to those born with normal birthweight. From the study, we found that those who were born extremely preterm had similar mental health outcomes to those born full term.
